Tips for Hiring a Gen Mystery Party
After the fun of an exciting few days at Gen Con and the con's after that, I have to head back to my hotel in Indy. I am excited about the future of my favorite adventure game, theirs.
So, I called up my good friend Pat from the Heroes of Might and Magic Guide to see if he had any tips for the con. Without Pat, I am doubtful that I would have been so successful. He told me that the best campaign adventure involves guiding a character around a city. He gave me the name of a city. He said that the real challenge in that campaign is that character building before you enter the city. I have been told that the adventures are only 24 hours long (although listed as 48 in the adventure book). This is important to me because I have family coming over the weekend and I want them to have all the fun, too. This campaign adventure also has two side episodes. You will have difficulty with this particular Troll until you get over being greased. Listen in on conversations. Another great tip is to listen in on conversations. You will pick up little tidbits of information that you wouldn't pick up otherwise. Keep your supplies stocked. You will need as many potions as you can carry. Firearms away. You don't want to go back to your home computer and be all freaked out because you have a gun. Check out the local Craps or Poker. If you see any of the characters doing some of these, you will know that they are reliable. Develop a few strategies of your own. These are 293 strategies. You don't have to buy D&D or a laptop. You don't want to go back to your PC and find that three of your five items are critically needed to finish a quest. Ask for equipment from party members. Within the party, you can get free equipment, but the best way remains to ask for these items. If they are of no use to you, get rid of them. Install Macros. You can find all the macros for the various abilities in the manual for your adventure game. These will help you in using each of your abilities to gain more experience.
